Selected venues for a major jazz event
Created in 2001, the Saint-Germain-des-Prés Jazz Festival has, for the past 19 years, combined essential concerts and exceptional venues. Every year, this flagship jazz event in the capital offers remarkable performances, presents innovative encounters between leading musicians, promotes new talent and revels in the virtuoso musicianship of its favourites. You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy live music in such wonderful venues as the Grand Salle of the Théâtre de l'Odéon, the Church of Saint-Germain-des-Pres, the Cristal ballroom of the Hotel Lutetia, the Richelieu amphitheatre of the Sorbonne University, Paris II University and the Maison des Océans.
Giants of the jazz scene and the emergence of new talents
Headliners since the festival’s beginnings have included Lisa Simone, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Lucky Peterson, Ben l'Oncle Soul, Eric Bibb, Hugh Coltmann, Manu Katche, and many others along with up-and-coming young talents. Audiences can discover the jazz stars of tomorrow thanks to platforms such as the Young Talent Springboard and Youth and Jazz Scenes.
The 2019 edition features artistes such as Kellylee Evans, the Jamaican-born Canadian who has one of the most prodigious voices of her generation; the accordionist Richard Galliano; Marion Rampal, who has mastered the art of crafting simple, blazing songs that could have been born under the skies of a reinvented New Orleans; vocalist Cecil Recchia or trumpet player Erik Truffaz assisted by Nya, a rapper with a hypnotic flow.
