Your chic pied-à-terre in the heart of Paris

Stay in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés

The Hotel d'Angleterre welcomes you to the Left Bank of the Seine, in the emblematic Parisian district of Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

Located on Rue Jacob, this small establishment offers the intimate and relaxing ambience of a private house combined with all the amenities you would expect from a 21st century hotel. We are superbly located in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, an ancient neighbourhood of Paris that was a village in medieval times. Since the 17th century the district has been famed for cafés such as the Café de Flore and Deux Magots where writers and artists gather to socialise.

The hotel also offers convenient access to many famous landmarks of the capital, including the Louvre Museum, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Orsay Museum, the Jardin du Luxembourg and the Latin Quarter; all are just a few minutes’ walk away. The Hotel d’Angleterre is simply an ideal location to enjoy the finest treasures of the City of Light!

A charming address that is rich in history

The Hotel d'Angleterre is distinguished by its rich and fascinating history.

Before becoming the chic and welcoming establishment of today, it was the scene of remarkable events

In the late 18th century the building was the location of the British Embassy, hence the name of our hotel. On September 3rd 1783, this was planned to be the location for the signing of the historic Treaty of Paris, which recognized the independence of America. However, the American representative Benjamin Franklin saw the Union Jack proudly waving in the breeze and refused to set foot upon this British sovereign territory, and an alternative location situated on neutral ground had to be hastily chosen. Ernest Hemingway and his wife stayed here in room 14 in December, 1921, and the pioneering aviator Charles Lindbergh was also a guest following his successful completion of the world’s first non-stop solo flight from New York to Paris in 1927.
